You know how to program a media player, but I am sure not a lot of persons would use it in it’s draft design, so here are a few tutorials to help you improve it’s appearance.

As usual I start with the easiest tutorials at the top, and the hardest one to the bottom, pick one that you like and try it, the skills you would gain would definitely help you out, as for me, I am learning the basics of illustrator and After effects so as soon as I know where stuff is I will be trying them out, but you will have to check the Facebook / Twitter or Flickr profiles for them.
