Ruby on Rails Tutorial

The goal of this book is to be the best answer to the question, “If I want to learn web development with Ruby on Rails, where should I start?” By the time you finish the Ruby on Rails Tutorial, you will have all the skills you need to develop and deploy your own custom web applications with Rails.

960 Grid System

The 960 Grid System is an effort to streamline web development workflow by providing commonly used dimensions, based on a width of 960 pixels. There are two variants: 12 and 16 columns, which can be used separately or in tandem. Read more.

Unsemantic CSS Framework

Unsemantic is a fluid grid system that is the successor to the 960 Grid System. It works in a similar way, but instead of being a set number of columns, it’s entirely based on percentages.

This isn’t really a tutorial, I will call it a recommendation. If you are going to be doing web design and coding, first you have to learn the languages, and since I don’t recommend anything I haven’t used I think this can help you out. For my learning of HTML / CSS / JavaScript and a few other languages, I use CodeCademy, they have a lot of courses available to persons and the best thing about it is that they are free. There are also a lot of tutorials on YouTube that will teach you the basics as well as some advanced stuff, so take a break from the weird part of YouTube and actually use it for something good.
